Teacher at Henry M. Jackson High School recognized for equity work
Each year the Snohomish County Branch NAACP honors Martin Luther King, Jr. with the Prodigies for Peace writing and art contest.
They also recognize community members for the significant roles they play in the lives of students of color. This year Rose Smith, a Henry M. Jackson High School teacher, received that honor with the President’s Award.
“Rose is a remarkable teacher in Everett Public Schools and sets an incredible example,” said Superintendent Gary Cohn. “I feel she has made significant contributions to the success of our Youth Development Program, My Achievers Program, and the Students of Color Career Conference, all of which supports the equity work we do in partnership with Everett Community College, Snohomish County Branch NAACP, and others.
“Students look up to Rose for her leadership and support. This is a well-deserved honor.”
